The Waldorf school in Dunaújváros – just like any Waldorf institution in the world – is the result of parental cooperation. The building in the Pentele district, which now houses the school, was given to the Waldorf community by the local government in 2015.
The property used to function as a school, but before it became a Waldorf school, it stood empty for 12 years and during this time it deteriorated a lot. However, the parental community and the foundation constantly beautify and renovate the building on their own and with the help of external supporters. In the 2018 “Várépítő” Tender, the institution received 200 m2 of RAVATHERM XPS thermal insulation material, which was laid on the floor of the 150 m2 attic, which is planned to function as a theatre room someday in the future, after an attic conversion. The remaining material was used as thermal insulation on the floor of one of the 50 m2 unheated classrooms, which is currently unused, i.e. the slab which is currently cooling upwards. The construction was carried out by volunteers, two parents, one brother and two employees of RAVATHERM Hungary Kft. The work took a couple of hours, but the result will provide the comfort for children and adults using the building for many decades to come.
