XENERGY™ LGP is a high-performance polystyrene thermal insulation with a 10 mm mortar topping layer made with special adhesives for the thermal insulation of inverted flat roofs and attic walls. The thermal insulation material is manufactured by an extrusion production procedure, resulting in a homogeneous material structure, a smooth surface skin (extrusion skin) and a number of favourable material characteristics. The mortar topping on the upper side of the thermal insulation boards. Due to its low mass/m2 and high strength, XENERGY™ LGP is suitable for the quick and efficient insulation of flat roofs. It is also suitable for the thermal insulation of the inner side of attic walls or flat roofs. XENERGY™ LGP combines the thermal performance of XENERGY™ SLP with a 10mm thick mortar topping for creating ship-lapped boards for upstands and parapets, helping address the issue of thermal bridging in flat roofs.
XENERGY™ LGP boards are suitable for use in flat roofs and places exposed to damp thanks to their homogeneous, closed-cell material structure which offer a number of favourable characteristics:
- permanently high thermal insulation level
- negligible moisture uptake
- high strength and rigidity
- dimensional stability
- resistance to rot and deterioration
- simple and quick installation with only a small amount of waste
- permanently resistant surface
STABILITY AGAINST WIND SUCTION
XENERGY™ LGP boards have been subjected to many independent tests for wind uplift, with the findings supporting their safe application.
Additional mechanical fixing against wind uplift is required along the roof edges and corners as well at every place where there is a break in the continuity of the roof (roof drains, roof superstructures etc).
As wells as the known advantages of inverted roofs, XENERGY™ LGP boards offer further advantages:
- small mass makes it suitable for roof structures with restricted load-bearing capacity
- installation of thermal insulation, ballasting and protecting layers can be carried out as a single work process, saving time and money
- boards are walkable during maintenance works
- easy-to-clean surface
- minimal disturbance of building occupants during installation
- Suitable for use with ship-lapped boards for upstands and parapets.
XENERGY™ LGP boards should be laid down in an offset bond with a minimum overlap of 20 cm. Pieces cut to less than half of the length of the boards may not be laid down at roof edges and attic walls. At the corners, along the edges, at openings, roof superstructures etc., additional ballast must be applied in the form of paving slabs, concrete elements etc. sized for wind suction and floating.
On attic walls, the vertical thermal insulation boards must be installed to cover the horizontally laid boards. At the free edges of roofs without an attic wall, special attention should be made to the additional load of XENERGY™ LGP boards, and pointwise gluing or mechanical fastening should also be applied if necessary. The visible edges of thermal insulation boards should be protected against UV radiation as well (eg by using aluminium fastening and protective profiles).
The permanent application temperature of XENERGY™ XPS products is. 75°C maximum. At higher temperatures, the boards will start to soften and suffer permanent deformation.
XENERGY™ XPS products contain an ecologically safe flame-retardant additive, as a result of which they will be self-extinguishing under their ignition temperature. They will, however, burn if exposed to an intensive ignition source.
XENERGY™ XPS products are resistant to commonly used construction materials that don’t contain solvents or softeners (bituminous components without solvents, water-based wall protecting materials, lime, cement, masonry mortars and plasters, anhydrous gypsum etc.).
Certain organic materials, such as solvent-based wood preservatives, paint additives, solvents (acetone, ethyl acetate, kerosene, gasoline etc.) will cause softening, shrinking and damage to the material.
For gluing, solvent-free adhesives must be used. Follow the supplier’s guidance.
XENERGY™ XPS products should not be exposed to permanent intensive direct sunlight.
