ROOFMATE LG
High-performance polystyrene foam thermal insulation with a 1-cm concrete crust made with special adhesives for the thermal insulation of inverted flat roofs and attic walls. The thermal insulation material is manufactured by an extrusion production procedure, the result of which is a homogeneous material structure, a smooth surface crust (called extrusion crust) and a number of favourable material characteristics. The concrete crust on the upper side of the thermal insulation boards provides long-term UV protection and a walkable surface due to its excellent mechanical resistance. Due to its low mass/m2 and high strength, the ROOFMATE LG is suitable for the quick and efficient insulation of flat roofs which cannot be loaded with a heavy gravel layer. It is also suitable for the thermal insulation of the inner side of attic walls of flat roofs.

Description
ROOFMATE LG
High-performance polystyrene foam thermal insulation with a 1-cm concrete crust with special additives for the thermal insulation of inverted flat roofs and attic walls. The thermal insulation boards are manufactured by extrusion production procedure, the result of which is a homogeneous, closed-cell material structure, a smooth-surface crust (called extrusion crust) and numerous favourable material properties. The extrusion crust on the upper side of the thermal insulation provides long-term UV protection and, thanks to its excellent mechanical strength, a walkable surface. With its low mass/m2 value and high strength, ROOFMATE LG is suitable for the fast and efficient insulation of flat roofs which cannot be loaded with a heavy gravel layer. It is also suitable as inner-side thermal insulation of attic walls of flat roofs.
A considerable percentage of flat roofs that need refurbishment, because of their restricted load-bearing capacity, are not suitable for the installation of an inverted roof ballasted with gravel. The application of the ROOFMATE LG product with its mass/m2 value of only 25 kg/m2 offers a solution in these cases. The 1-cm mortar layer with a plastic additive on one side as well as the tongue-and-groove edge finishing of the longitudinal edges of the boards will provide sufficient load-bearing capacity and stability. Apart from this, the mortar layer will give protection against UV radiation, mechanical damages and the propagation of fire on the surface as well. The blue-colour extruded polystyrene thermal insulation foam boards equipped with a 1-cm concrete layer on one side are excellent for use in flat roofs and places exposed to damp thanks to their homogeneous, closed-cell material structure due to the following favourable characteristics:
• permanently high thermal insulation level
• negligible moisture uptake
• high strength and rigidity
• dimensional stability
• resistance to rot and deterioration
• simple and quick installation with only a small amount of waste
• permanently resistant surface
which make the product suitable for completely satisfying all the requirements of the listed application area.
STABILITY AGAINST WIND SUCTION
The behaviour of ROOFMATE LG boards exposed to wind load were examined in many tests, and the result support safe applicability of the product.
Against wind load, additional mechanical fixing is required along the roof edges and corners as well at every place where the continuity of the roof is broken (roof drains, roof superstructures etc.).
Apart from the already known advantages of inverted roofs, the following aspects make the application of ROOFMATE LG product even more appealing:
• due to the small mass of the product, it may be used also for roof structures with restricted load-bearing capacity
• the installation of the thermal insulation, ballasting and protecting layers is a single work process, so the use of the product saves time and money
• during maintenance works, the surface of the ROOFMATE LG boards is directly walkable
• the surface of the ROOFMATE LG boards is easy to clean
• installation can be performed with the minimal disturbance of the building’s occupants.INSTALLATION OF ROOFMATE LG BOARDS
Into flat roofs
The ROOFMATE LG boards are to be laid down in an offset bond with a minimum overlap of 20 cm. Pieces cut to less than half of the length of the boards may not be laid down at roof edges and attic walls. At the corners, along the edges, at openings, roof superstructures etc., additional ballast must be applied in the form of paving slabs, concrete elements etc. sized for wind suction and floating.
At attic walls, the vertical thermal insulation boards must be installed to cover the horizontally laid boards. At the free edges of roofs without an attic wall, special attention should be made to the additional load of ROOFMATE LG boards, and pointwise gluing or mechanical fastening should also be applied if necessary. The visible edges of thermal insulation boards should be protected against UV radiation as well (e.g. by using aluminium fastening and protective profiles).
On roofs with external water draining, apart from loading against wind suction and floating up, horizontal support of the boards against sliding down and mechanical fastening with metal profiles may also be necessary depending on the size and pitch of the area.
Under the ROOFMATE LG boards, glued waterproofing must be applied on the entire surface!IMPORTANT
The permanent application temperature of RAVATHERM XPS products is max. 75°C.
At higher temperatures, the plates will melt and suffer permanent deformation.RAVATHERM XPS products contain an – ecologically safe – flame-retardant additive, as a result of which they will be self-extinguishing under their ignition temperature, however, they will burn if exposed to an intensive ignition source.
RAVATHERM XPS products are resistant to commonly used construction materials not containing solvents or softeners (bituminous components without solvents, water-based wall protecting materials, lime, cement, masonry mortars and plasters, anhydrous gypsum etc.).
Certain organic materials, such as solvent-based wood preservatives, paint additives, solvents (acetone, ethyl acetate, kerosene, gasoline etc.) will cause softening, shrinking and damage to the material.
For gluing, solvent-free adhesives must be used. Follow the supplier’s guidance.
XPS products must not be exposed to permanent intensive direct sunlight.
