The PERIMATE DI plate is an efficient vertical drain plate which leads the collected water without pressure to the horizontal drainpipe. By using the PERIMATE DI product, the requirements of related standards for vertical drain plates are largely satisfied. Due to its exellent thermal insulation characteristics, high compressive strength and resistance to moisture, it also ensures efficient thermal insulation and protection of the insulation material.
The PERIMATE DI plate is an efficient vertical drain plate which leads the collected water down to the horizontal drainpipe without pressure. By using the PERIMATE DI product, the requirements of the related standard for vertical drain plates will be largely satisfied.
The PERIMATE DI thermal insulation is manufactured by extrusion production procedure, the result of which is a homogeneous, closed-cell material structure, a smooth surface crust (called an extrusion crust) on one side while the other side is grooved and geotextile is applied to it.

The application of the PERIMATE DI product is expedient when, apart from thermal insulation and the protection of insulation, also vertical water drainage needs to be resolved. The PERIMATE DI plate unites three functions:
• protection of the waterproofing
• thermal insulation
• vertical water drainage
The blue-colour extruded polystyrene thermal insulation foam plate grooved on one side and laminated with geotextile will excel in providing all the above-listed functions, thanks to the following favourable characteristics arising from its homogeneous, closed-cell material structure:
• permanently high thermal insulation level
• negligible moisture uptake
• high strength and rigidity
• dimensional stability
• resistance to rot and deterioration
• simple and quick installation with only a small amount of waste
• high draining capacity.
The longitudinal grooves chased into one surface of the PERIMATE DI plates will serve as water-draining channels, while the geotextile applied to them will act as a filtering layer. The geotextile extends by 10 cm along one short and one long side ensuring the continuity of the surface by overlapping. The continuity of the water flow going down in the vertical grooves of the plates above each other is ensured by a transversal distribution groove along one of the short edges, so the water can reach the horizontal drainpipe embedded into the filter gravel without any obstacle.
The PERIMATE DI plate is an efficient vertical drain plate which leads the collected water down to the horizontal drainpipe without pressure. By using the PERIMATE DI product, the requirements of the related German standard DIN 4095 for vertical drain plates will be largely satisfied. According to the standard, the required capacity for vertical draining in a normal case (e.g. at a foundation depth of 3.00 m) is min. 0.3 L/s m. The water drainage capacity of the PERIMATE DI plate by far exceeds this requirement: at a foundation depth of 3.00 m, it exceeds 1.00 L/s m, which is also proven by the test performed by the professional group of the FH Karlsruhe Institute responsible for hydraulic engineering. In case of higher water drainage requirements, the maximum water drainage capacity in the given depth has to be checked.
INSTALLATION OF PERIMATE DI
The PERIMATE DI boards with staggered edge finishing, which can be installed without thermal bridges, must be fitted with closed gaps so that the water drainage grooves are vertical, and the arrow painted on the geotextile points upwards. The thermal insulation boards are to be fixed by gluing pointwise or in strips to the insulation of the perimeter wall of the cellar against soil moisture or to the watertight concrete wall of the cellar.
The filter gravel bed of the horizontal drainpipe has to provide 10 to 15 cm of cover up to the vertical drain surface, and the filter gravel layer must be separated from the soil to be filled back.
The opening of the vertical grooves on top of the uppermost row must be stopped by bituminous adhesive so that no impurities could get into the water drainage channels.
It is advised to perform land refill as soon as possible, applying compaction after each layer.
It is recommended to glue PERIMATE DI plates with a PUR adhesive foam. The adhesive must be applied in vertical strips at about 25-cm intervals so that there are at least 3 strips on each plate.
The PERIMATE DI boards can be easily and accurately cut by manual tools, thin plates by a sharp knife, the thicker ones by handsaw, electric circular saw, jigsaw, alligator saw or hot wire cutter.
The permanent application temperature of RAVATHERM XPS products is max. 75°C.
At higher temperatures, the plates will melt and suffer permanent deformation.
RAVATHERM XPS products contain an – ecologically safe – flame-retardant additive, as a result of which they will be self-extinguishing under their ignition temperature, however, they will burn if exposed to an intensive ignition source.
RAVATHERM XPS products are resistant to commonly used construction materials not containing solvents or softeners (bituminous components without solvents, water-based wall protecting materials, lime, cement, masonry mortars and plasters, anhydrous gypsum etc.).
Certain organic materials, such as solvent-based wood preservatives, paint additives, solvents (acetone, ethyl acetate, kerosene, gasoline etc.) will cause softening, shrinking and damage to the material.
For gluing, solvent-free adhesives must be used. Follow the supplier’s guidance.
XPS products must not be exposed to permanent intensive direct sunlight.
